PLANS have been unveiled for a new language school in Shawlands.
Lingo Flamingo want to take over a cafe which has been vacant for 18 months on Deanston Drive.
They have asked Glasgow City Council for permission to change the use of unit from retail to language school.
In correspondence accompanying the plans, a statement says the premise will be used as a small office. The front room space will be used to teach foreign languages.
The language school will open from 9am until 10pm and close on a Sunday, should the plans get the go-ahead. Lingo Flamingo say that the vast majority of classes will take place between 2pm and 9pm.
The statement added: "The classes will not be excessively noisy and should not disturb local residents."
Lingo Flamingo say they are the world's first not-for-profit organisation to provide bespoke language classes to older adults.
The company, who are based in Govan, say their work is powered by recent research showing that learning a language can delay dementia by up to five years, as well as aiding stroke recovery.
A decision on the plans is expected on October 1.
