HAMISH the dog - star of Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games - has died.
The sad news was broken on his official Twitter page this morning.
A short statement read: “At 1.15am this morning, Hamish went to Rainbow Bridge.
Thank you to everyone who came into his life over the last 4 years. He was proud to have led out @Team_Scotland @Glasgow2014.
“We would like to thank Gillian and Cheryl at the e-vets @BraidVets for the care they gave to Hamish in his final hours. Also thank you to Dunedin Vets in Dunbar. Thank you from all of the family.”
Gutted fans were quick to offer their condolences.
“Sorry to hear about your lovely wee dog. He was a star in Glasgow and am sure was a star at home,” said one.
“So sad to read this but what a great dog who touched a wider public,” added another.
Hamish proudly walked out Team Scotland at the 2014 opening ceremony at Celtic Park.
