A PARTICK thief worked up a sweat to steal metal railings from his old primary school.
Scott Macmartin, 44, was captured on CCTV pinching metal and steel from the future Masjid Madressa Al Arabia Al Islamia mosque in Paisley Road West on November 13, 2015.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court this week, it was explained that the old Bellahouston Primary School site was not a mosque at the time of the offence. The building was undergoing refurbishment and the accused believed the items left lying around were "fair game".
Macmartin's lawyer then acknowledged that the time-served electrician "had to do some work to remove those railings".
Sheriff Gerard Bonnar sentenced Macmartin, of Muirpark Street, to a Restriction of Liberty Order in which he will have to remain at home between the hours of 7pm and 7am for three months.
