SCHOOL friends and teachers of tragic Alesha McPhail sang her favourite song at an assembly to mark pupils return to her Airdrie primary for the new term.
Chapelside Primary sang This Little Light of Mine in memory of the youngster.
Wendy Davie, Headteacher of Chapelside Primary School, said: “We held an assembly to welcome pupils back to school; during the assembly staff and pupils paid tribute to Alesha MacPhail by singing This Little Light of Mine, which was her favourite song.”
The six-year-old was staying with relatives on Bute, in the Firth of Clyde, at the start of the summer break when she was found dead.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with rape and murder following the discovery of Alesha’s body in woodland on July 2.
Pupils will also be offered counselling.
