MCGREGOR Outstanding. The goalkeeper’s experience at the highest level in Europe proved invaluable to Rangers, as it had in the first leg against Maribor, once again in Slovenia. He produced several important blocks in both halves. His penalty save from Tavares in injury-time capped a fine night 9
TAVERNIER Teed up Alfredo Morelos with a gilt-edged scoring chance midway through the first-half after a typically lung-bursting run upfield. But the right back and captain must still improve defensively. He switched off and allowed Maribor to get a shot on goal in the first-half 6
GOLDSON Another commanding display from the former Brighton man in the centre of the Rangers defence. He had a busy evening as the home side threw everything they had at the visitors in a desperate attempt to get back into the tie. But he was more than equal to it 8
KATIC Steven Gerrard felt the Croatian, who is just 21, would take time to settle at Rangers when he signed him on a four year deal back in June. But the defender is making it hard for his manager to leave him out. Once again rose to the challenge admirably 6
JACK Impressive. The former Aberdeen man has picked up where he left off last season after returning from injury. His reading of the game, composure on the ball and distribution were all important qualities for Rangers. Looks set to be an ever-present under Steven Gerrard 7
HALLIDAY Did everything that was asked of him out of position at left back and more than justified Steven Gerrard’s faith in him. It was a big ask for him to come in to such a difficult away fixture given his lack of game time. But he rose to the occasion well 7
ARFIELD Assured. The former Falkirk midfielder may not have extensive European experience, but it didn’t show. He was calmness personified. His passing was exemplary. He saw a late shot at goal deflected wide. 7.
OJARIA Comfortable in possession. Helped to slow play down in the middle of the park. The Liverpool loanee made way for his Anfield team mate Ryan Kent with little over 20 minutes remaining. He will learned greatly from the experience and should improve as a result 6
CANDEIAS The Portuguese winger was always likely to have a tough night out wide. But he stuck to his task manfully. He tested Maribor keeper Jasmin Handanovic when he cut inside and got a shot on target two minutes into the second-half 6.
MURPHY Could have done better and killed off the tie when he broke into the Maribor box in the second-half. He failed to even get his shot on target. But he put in an unbelievable shift. Picked up a yellow card for a foul on Tavares as the Maribor man bore down on goal late on 6
MORELOS The Colombian, the subject of a failed bid from Bordeaux in the build-up to the game, led the line well. Was caught a yard offside after being supplied by Tavernier after half an hour had been played. But his temperament remains a concern. He got involved in needless tussles as passions ran high late on. He needs to cool it 6.
Replacements
MCCRORIE Took over from Murphy and added some much-needed energy and physicality in the closing stages 3.
KENT Came on for the closing stages. Played with a maturity above his tender years 3.
