A gang of youths attacked and slashed a man on the face who was walking in Easterhouse.
Police are hunting the group who attacked the 47-year-old on Dungeonhill Road around 9pm on Thursday.
They approached the victim before words were exchanged and the man was punched by one of the youths and struck with a knife.
The group, who are described as wearing dark hooded tops and grey tracksuit bottoms, then dispersed and made off.
The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a serious facial injury and later released.
Detective Constable Sean McLoughlin, of Shettleston CID said: “This appears to be an isolated random attack on the man which has caused serious injury. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and either witnessed the attack, heard a commotion or saw a group of youths running off, to please get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Shettleston CID via 101, quoting incident number 3882 of 16/8 2018 . Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
