A MAN has been fined £540 after being caught trying to sell viagra tablets.
Mohammed Ashraf, 45, was caught with sealed packets of the drug at his shop on Allison Street in the Govanhill area.
Police with a warrant from HMRC spotted the pills in the back stock area of the Mini Market in October last year.
He told officers he got them from a friend but hadn't sold any, and claimed they cost £1.50.
Ashraf, from Govanhill, pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to selling or supplying the “unauthorised medicinal product” Sildenfil Citrate, known as viagra.
Sheriff Daniel Kelly QC fined Ashraf £540.
The court heard police went to the shop with a warrant from HMRC.
While in the back area of the shop they saw sealed blister packs with 500 tablets.
Ashraf told them “That’s viagra, I got them from my friend during the holidays.”
He was cautioned and told police ‘I’ve not sold any yet” and also said he sold them for £1.50.
