A MAJOR Glasgow motorway was brought to a standstill this morning - because of a mattress.
The Kingston Bridge M8 westbound was slow around 10.25am after a mattress was spotted in lane three of five.

It's not known how the object appeared on the busy road but it drivers to merge into other lanes in order to avoid a collision.

Traffic Scotland alerted motorists to the issue in a tweet which read: "#M8 W/B Kingston Bridge - broken down ..... mattress... in lane 3 of 5.
"Traffic slowing on approach."

TRISS were sent to remove the mattress around 10.37am and restore traffic to normal.
