DUNDEE has joined six other Scottish councils in pledging to teach all secondary pupils life-saving CPR.
Their backing for the Evening Times’ Scotland’s Got Heart campaign means that more than 87,000 pupils across the country will learn the first aid skill.
Dundee City Council has pledged to work with British Heart Foundation Scotland on a plan to ensure that every secondary pupil receives CPR training at an appropriate stage in the curriculum.
David McColgan, Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager at BHF Scotland, said: “Today's announcement from Dundee City Council is warmly welcomed.
“It is great to see the City of Discovery continue its tradition as a pioneer amongst Scotland's local authorities.
“By making a commitment to ensure all pupils are trained in CPR before they leave school, Dundee City Council joins Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth and Kinross, Clackmannanshire, Renfrew and East Renfrewshire in Scotland.”
