THIS is the terrifying footage of the moment a double-decker bus burst into flames.
Dramatic footage taken by a resident on a quiet residential street captures the bus engulfed in flames.
The bus burst into flames as passengers on the top floor rushed to escape the inferno that engulfed the vehicle within minutes.
A resident spotted the fire coming out from the engine hatch at the back of the vehicle while it was travelling through Allandale, Falkirk around 8pm last night (Mon).
Operators First Bus has confirmed no one was injured during the blaze on board the X37 service, the cause of which is not yet known.
Graeme Bell, 32, was standing in his garden as the drama unfolded.
He said: "I heard a noise which at first sounded like a tractor going by with steel beams attached to the wheels.
"It stopped about 20 yards from my house then it started smoking.
"It got worse and worse then the whole bus went up in flames.
"From my garden I could see people on the top deck running towards the exit.
"I imagine they would've got quite a fright if they were up the back.
"It took about 20 minutes for the fire brigade to come.
Graeme, a joiner, lives with his partner Laura, 26, and their young kids Jessica, four, and Alfie, two.
He rushed along the street to where the bus came to a stop, as his parents live in the adjacent house.
He added: "I just went along to see if they were OK.
"It must've taken about 15 or 20 minutes for the fire service to put out the flames, but by that time it was completely burnt out.
"Our kids were quite worked up by it all and it caused quite a bit of alarm in the street, specially with it being so close to the houses."
A First Scotland East spokesman said: "We can confirm our vehicle was involved in an incident at 8.05pm last night (August 20) in Allandale.
"No passengers or staff were injured in any way in the incident.
"The driver deserves huge praise as his swift actions to stop the vehicle and evacuate all four passengers have prevented any injuries whatsoever and avoided a much more serious incident.
"Our staff are all highly trained and we have emergency procedures in place for this sort of incident.
"Passenger and staff safety is our number one priority and is at the forefront of everything that we do.
"We will now carry out a full internal investigation to establish the root cause."
