THE Met Office has warned heavy showers will make driving conditions "tricky" for commuters making their way across Glasgow this morning.

Rain is forecast until noon today with flooding expected in some parts of south east England.

There's also a chance of hail and thunder hitting the city.

It is due to clear up later on but drivers have been warned to take care while travelling to work.

However, the rain will return this evening and is expected to particularly heavy towards Argyll.

The M77 is already experiencing lengthy queues between junction four Crookfur Road and junction two Barrhead Road heading towards Glasgow.

Those travelling to Edinburgh will experience heavy tailbacks.

While the M80 southbound around junction one Provan and northbound between junction four Mollinsburn and junction six Old Inns is heavily congested.

M8 westbound is also busy between junction 13 Provan and junction 16 Craighall.

While eastbound between junction 29 St James, junction 27 Arkleston, junction 22 Plantation, and junction 19 Anderston is congested. 

On the M74, there are queues from junction 2a Fullarton Road to junction one Kingston Bridge heading northbound. 

Although ScotRail has advised customers to grab an umbrella before leaving the house and, we think, they might have a point.
