STREETS in Glasgow were on lockdown late on Friday night after police received reports of a man with a gun.

The incident, at around 9pm, saw a number of roads surrounding the Clyde Tunnel - as well as the tunnel itself - become closed as police hunted the suspect.

Police received a report of a man in a blue Vauxhall Astra who “appeared to be in possession of what is described as a firearm” outside the Union Bar on Paisley Road West, said the force.

The vehicle then made off from the scene.

At around 9.50pm, road policing officers stopped a blue Vauxhall Astra which had been “driving erratically” on Skipness Drive.

The occupants of the vehicle made off from the scene and the officers engaged in a foot chase.

A number of roads in the surrounding area and the Clyde Tunnel were closed for a period of time in connection with the incident.

Police Scotland said: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace the individuals and police are following a positive line of enquiry.”
