SCOTS have been left in stitches over Nike's new trainer design.
The chunky Air Max 270 sneakers have been branded as 'Bowfin'.
The shoes are described as sporting a ‘molded, dual-density foam for a smooth transition from heel to forefoot’.
However, it seems designers may not have been aware of the Scottish meaning to the word.
Urban dictionary defines ‘bowfin’ as ‘slang for disgusting, horrible or unsightly’.
On Twitter, Highsnobiety posted a pictured of the trainers, adding: "Here’s your first look at Nike’s chunky Air Max 270 Bowfin hiking sneaker."

Scots were quick to share their disbelief at the choice.
Gary Elliot replied: "Haw Shug! Yer gutties are pure bowfin by the way."
