TOURISTS travelling to Glasgow from the USA and Italy are downloading a new app, which tells users when they are near buildings designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Ingeniuus, a tenant at The Whisky Bond, has developed technology which uses Bluetooth to send alert messages to iOS and Android mobile devices, even when the app is closed
It was developed as part of the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of Glasgow’s most famous sons and commissioned by Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life.
David Blockley, director at Ingeniuus, said: “With this project, there was a real responsibility to successfully engage current mobile device users to Glasgow’s rich and iconic architectural past.
“The app has been very well received.”
