THE mother of murdered schoolgirl Paige Doherty has blasted reports the teen was close with her biological father who died at the weekend.
Pamela Munro took to social media to pay her respects to Jon Bothwell, who died in Hairmyres Hospital on Saturday.
His family have claimed he died of a broken heart after not being able to cope with the death of the pair's beloved daughter. A post mortem examination is due to take place.
The 35-year-old, who has four other children with husband Andy Munro, responded to a news article on the 37-year-old's death and took the opportunity to discuss the teen's relationship with her biological father.

In a lengthy comment, Pamela, of Bishopbriggs, wrote: "Was in two minds as to whether or not to comment on this.
"It is a sad fact that Paige's death claimed the life of her biological dad and i hope he is at peace. This story however does bend facts slightly.
"John and I were very young when we had Paige, we split up wen I was pregnant.
"He had another Family soon after Paige's birth and we both got on with our lives."
National reports claim the boxer Jon was close with his eldest daughter, however, Pamela disputed the claims.
She continued: "John never played any part in Paige's life.
"She was Bothwell on the birth certificate but her name was changed at three weeks old and she took my second name.
"I never asked John for anything for Paige and she had no Christmas or birthday cards etc.
"Paige bumped into his family at times in town with me but it was very few and far between.
"However, Paige wanted it to be consistent n they couldn't offer her that.
"Paige was 13 before she saw her dad and he changed his number two weeks later.
"He had his own life and recognised Paige had hers. Had he wanted see her he knew he could have."
Despite their differences, Pamela explained Jon did attend their daughter's funeral on April 20, 2016.

She added: "As for the funeral john was there and lowered her coffin that day.
"Now I shouldn't have to give background information at this sad time but this being over the paper affects what my family see and then hear all the facts of Paige's death again.
"Regardless of anything a young man has lost his life and a mother has to bury her soon so all of this speculation on here just isn't needed.
"Thoughts are with all of his family and children."
As previously reported by the Evening Times, police confirmed Jon was rushed to hospital after being discovered at his flat in Main Street, Cambuslang at the weekend.
