TRAFFIC on a busy Lanarkshire motorway has come to a complete standstill after a five-vehicle crash.
Early reports have suggested that a pregnant woman has been rushed to hospital.
Police Scotland told the Evening Times: “Five cars have been involved in an accident and there have been no reports of any injuries.
“A woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has also been contacted for more information.
Traffic Scotland first raised the alarm just after 9am.
The team said on Twitter: “East Kilbride Expressway #A725 is congested both ways due to an earlier 5 vehicle RTC that happened an hour ago. Clean up is in operation and recovery is en route. Police dealing with issue.”
One driver who was caught up in the chaos said: “East Kilbride is gridlocked. I’ve managed to turn back. Been stuck in that traffic for an hour. Need to let people know in radio how bad it is.”
