Celtic star Moussa Dembele was packing his bags ahead of a move to Lyon on Thursday night, with a delivery truck pictured outside his home in Bothwell.

While his teammates were getting ready for their crucial Europa League clash with FK Suduva, Dembele and his agent, along with a number of other representatives, were preparing for the move from Glasgow to France after he had agreed terms with the Ligue 1 club.

Although Brendan Rodgers had stated that no bid had been made for the striker earlier in the week, the Celtic manager confirmed on Wednesday that Dembele had been allowed to open negotiations with Lyon and was therefore absent from team training. And now it seems as though the former PSG youth player is heading back to France.

Dembele, who narrowly missed out on France’s World Cup winning squad in the summer, has been a transfer target for a number of Europe’s biggest clubs after dazzling the Scottish Premiership with 17 goals and eight assists in just 29 games during his first season at the club.

Despite being linked with a number of clubs this summer, it seems as though Lyon will be the ultimate destination for the highly regarded Celtic striker. After selling key forward Mariano Diaz move to Real Madrid earlier in the week for €23 million, Bruno Genesio’s side now have the necessity and funds to push through the deal for Dembele.

Signed for just £500,000 from Fulham just two years ago, Celtic are expected to make a huge profit off of the back of Dembele’s superb two seasons at the club and may expect to surpass the current record fee received for a Celtic player, which currently stands at £12,500,000 when Victor Wanyama moved to Southampton in 2013.
