MOUSSA Dembele has taken to Twitter to aim two digs at Celtic over their refusal to accept what manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted is a significant bid from Lyon for him.
The French striker and his representatives are believed to be furious the Scottish champions have knocked back a substantial offer from the Ligue 1 club.
Rodgers last night stated the player would not be allowed to leave Glasgow because he will be unable to bring in a replacement for him before the transfer window closes at midnight today.
But Dembele, who missed the Europa League play-off game against Suduva last night because of the ongoing uncertainty over his future, is unhappy at their stance.
The 22-year-old agreed personal terms with the Champions League club quickly on Wednesday after being granted permission to speak to them and is desperate for the transfer to go through.
Late last night he took to social media website Twitter and posted: "A man without his word is nothing. A real man keeps his word."
In the early hours of this morning he went further and posted: "A lie has many variations, the truth none."
He added: "Don't get it wrong Bhoys and Ghirls nothing to do with people who really care about the club. Too much love and respect for you and the crest. Careful who you call the leader of yours."
Rodgers, who signed Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain for a club record £9 million fee in the summer, last night reiterated that he needed to bring in a replacement before Dembele can be allowed to leave.
“We’ll see over the course of the next 24 hours where that is at,” he said. “The club has had a significant offer, it’s been ongoing for a couple of days and we’ve taken Moussa out of it.
“We don’t want him to go. We understand the offer is significant, but it’s no good for us. It has to work for both. If we don’t have someone of a certain calibre and quality to come in, then, unfortunately, it can’t be done because he is not a player we want to lose. We’ll see how it goes.
Asked if he was confident if Dembele would still be at Celtic on Saturday morning, Rodgers added: “Yeah. There's not a huge list of players that can come in and offer the qualities Moussa gives us.”
"I'll speak more to him on Friday about where it's at. It's difficult, a difficult situation for him in terms of the possibility he has. He's a very talented player and the time will become right for him to leave here and go on and take the next steps in his career.
"But it has to work for both. And that's something he'll understand in time, if not now."
