Rangers have completed their first deadline-day deal with the capture of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall with former West Brom defender Gareth McAuley expected to follow.
Worrall, 21, has signed a season-long loan deal at Ibrox. The England Under-21 international has made 56 appearances for Forest and captained his country to victory in the Toulon Tournament in 2017.
However, manager Steven Gerrard believes he needs further cover in his side with the club potentially expected to play upwards of 50 games following qualification for the Europa League group stage.
Rangers have been monitoring McAuley's position for six months but had not made a signifcant move for the player until after last night's play-off qualifier against Russian side Ufa.
The Nothern Ireland defender's contract expired at The Hawthorns earlier this summer. He had been on the brink of signing for Hearts before the two sides failed to agree on a financial package. One potential sticking point for the Ibrox side is that the 39-year-old has also agreed a deal with an un-named club.
