THE M80 was closed off in both directions after a woman plummeted to a grass verge below.
Traffic was held at Junction 2 Robyroyston at around 6.14pm tonight.
Police officers were seen running down the motorway to stop vehicles.
A spokeswoman from Police Scotland confirmed that the motorway was shut following reports of a woman jumping or falling onto a grass verge. The woman was transported to hospital.
The road reopened by 6.19pm.
