FIREFIGHTERS tackled a huge blaze in Renfrew on Friday night.
Several calls were made to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at around 10.27pm after blaze errupted in the Robbie Park pavillion.
At its height, four crews tackled the blaze using an aerial appliance and hose reel jet.
The SFRS said they were also dealing with suspected asbestos. It is understood that there was no injuries and the SFRS said one appliance remains at the scene.
The majority of the fire was put out around midnight.
Local MP Gavin Newlands took to social media to express his concern over the incident.
He said that there has been fire-raising attempts on the facility before.
He said: "Lots of people sad and angry after the attack on the Robbie park pavillion in Renfrew tonight.
"I know that fire-raising attempts have been an ongoing issue and have been a focus of the police and wardens of late, but sadly they were successful this time.
"I well remember paying for the tennis, putting, and the bikes at the pavillion in my youth and I'd always hoped that a new use could have been found for the building but it looks like that will no longer be an option sadly."
