A SCOTS actor – who starred in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – is set to share his wisdom to help inspire budding performers.
West End superstar Gregor Stewart will host a series of workshops north of the border to give interested participants a flavour of the arts industry.
Gregor, who has stepped out on stage as Billy Flynn in Chicago, Fiyero in Wicked, Sam in Ghost, and the dad of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, said: "These workshops are aimed at giving the students a taste of how we work in a professional environment – from a warm up we would actually use for a West End show to technical exercises helping students with basic dance moves that are key to dance. We will also work on performance skills that are vital when working as a professional.
"But most of all, it's going to be a fun three days. So no matter what level they are at, they will not only enjoy the classes but will take something away each day that will progress their dance technique."
Gregor will teach choreography from the various musicals he has been a part of, as well as some new moves that he has put together especially for the students.
Gregor added: "I’m aiming to teach the classes to kids aged 12 and up, however if they feel they are strong enough dancers to keep up with older students just drop me an email and let me know.
"I'm also aiming to add some acting into certain classes – that will all depend on numbers of students per class. No class will be the same, apart from the dance technique, so students can attend all three workshops if they wish."
Last year, Gregor swapped the stage for the silver screen after bagging himself a role in the sequel to Mamma Mia!
Although the film was released in the UK in July, Gregor still hasn't seen the movie as he's currently in Asia playing Munkustrap in the touring show of Cats.
Gregor, who plays one of the Greek villagers in the film, said: "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is finally out in cinemas and can you believe it I still haven’t seen it.
"I’m currently in Guangzhou in China performing with Cats the musical, and it’s yet to be released. I can't wait to see it."
Gregor, a former Alva Academy pupil who found his passion for performing after joining Clackmannanshire-based stage school Forefront in the late 90’s, said the film role was a dream job from start to finish.
He said: "The cast/ensemble were amazing.
"Meeting and working with A-list celebs like Cher and Meryl Streep, being made up to look like Pierce Brosnan as I was his dance double on the film and getting to film in Croatia – those jobs don’t come round very often and I was thrilled to be given the chance.
"The whole thing from start to finish was something I’ll never forget and apparently you can spot me playing an air guitar in the party scene in the movie."
Gregor, who graduated from Arts Educational in London, has been in China since March with Cats.
He added: "It’s been an amazing experience with some amazing highs – but I’ll be glad to get back to the UK and possibly never eat white rice ever again."
Gregor's workshops will take place at Hawkhill Community Centre in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on Monday, October 15 (11am-3pm, £25), Thursday, October 18 (9am-12pm, £20) and Friday, October 19 (11am-3pm, £25).
