A SCOTSTOUN woman has made a desperate plea to raise funds for a life-changing operation to ensure her beloved pet doesn’t spend its life in pain.

Rebecca Taylor’s pup Sadie has been diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in both hips and, without a major operation and an intensive after care programme, the one-year-old will spend her entire life in pain.

Sadly, due to a loophole in her insurance contract 22-year-old Rebecca must fund the treatment herself and it’s likely to cost more than £5,000 - a sum the college student simply doesn’t have.

Alongside her mum, the duo are putting their dreams of buying a new home on hold, while Rebecca puts in extra shifts at work and spends her free time painting commissioned portraits of other people’s pets in a bid to pull the money together.

But she is reliant one the donations of kind-hearted Glaswegians to ensure she can give her beloved Sadie the life she deserves.

Glasgow Times:

Rebecca told the Evening Times: “It’s really stressful. I’ve had to put off studying to work and paint pictures.

“We wanted to buy a house next year but all the money is going towards Sadie - Sadie comes first.

“I will make sure I get it, no matter what.

“I’ve already saved around £1,000 but will need to raise about £2,500 by October 13.”

Glasgow Times:

Sadie fell recently which has meant the urgency of the surgery has now increased and she will need to go under the knife as quickly as October.

Rebecca added: “The left hip is worse than the right but both need the operation. You can hear her hips crack when she walks.

“She has the same problems with walking as my older dog, Kayla, who is 11 and she’s only one.

“She’s in constant pain and without the treatment she will have no life.”
