EMERGENCY services have rushed to a Gourock bar after its roof collapsed.

The canopy which stands over the Cardwell Inn has fallen down, leaving a pile of glass and debris in front of its entrance.

Punters inside the pub have been spotted looking on at the wreckage in shock as fire crews and police rushed to the scene.

It's understood the incident occurred shortly after 4pm today.

No one was trapped or injured at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were called around 4.10pm to reports of a roof falling off a building in Cardwell Road, Gourock.

“Officers are in attendance directing traffic.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two appliances had been called to the scene and firefighters had lifted the canopy from the ground.
