A SHEEP has died of shock after a pack of dogs attacked in animal in a field.
Police Scotland are now investigating the incident which happened at around 8.10am on August 25.
The force said two white and brown Greyhound type dogs entered a field at Rowanbank, Cormiston Road, Quothquan, and attacked a sheep.
The animal suffered a bite wound, and later died of shock.
PC Mark Richardson, of Biggar LPST, said: "This was a particularly distressing incident for the animal and the farmer.
"The farmer saw the incident and immediately tended to the animal, but once attacked by an animal, the sheep's death from shock is often unavoidable.
"Now that these dogs have attacked, it is vital for the safety of livestock, animals and people that we identify the owner and inform them of the circumstances."
If you have information on the identity of the owner, contact PC Richardson on 101, quoting incident 1951 of 26/08/18.
