A taxi driver who once refused to pick up a blind person with a guide dog has been allowed to keep his licence.
Asif Khan was given a severe warning about his future conduct as it emerged he also crashed into another car after running a red light in 2015.
He was given a £400 fine and had six points added to his licence following the incident in the Saltmarket in October 2015.
But during an appearance in front of licensing chiefs, Mr Khan blamed the crash on the driver of the other car and admitted he never reported his conviction for careless driving to the council.

Police Scotland confirmed that the other driver had been injured during the collision but Mr Khan insisted the police were out to get him.
Mr Khan said: “The third party went through the red light and caused the accident but when the police pulled up I felt they had made up their mind.
“The police never took a statement from me. They were more interested in taking my car away because they thought it was not insured.
“I didn’t report the conviction to licensing because I thought my licence would be taken away. I was protecting my livelihood.”
Mr Khan also said that the other driver had been “causing a commotion” after the crash.
He was also questioned about why he refused to pick up a blind person during another incident in 2016. He said it was because there was a dog but admitted he was wrong.

Licensing committee member Gary Gray hit out at the driver over the crash.
He said: “The red light issue you’re saying it was someone else’s fault. Yet you’ve been found guilty in a court.
“You are of the view that the police were against you.
“Do you ever take responsibility for your actions?”
And John Kane added: “You deliberately chose to ignore one of the terms and conditions of your licence by not informing licensing of your conviction.”
Despite that, the licensing committee granted Mr Khan a restricted one-year licence with a severe warning.
