City planners have flushed plans to transform a disused toilet block in Queen's Park into a cafe.
An application was submitted to change the building at 1001 Pollokshaws Road, near Langside Hall, into a business serving coffee, ice cream and hot food for takeaway.
A number of reasons for the refusal were given by the planning committee including that it would not protect Shawlands town centre.
They added that it had no method for dispersing cooking fumes, proposed roller shutters would 'detract from the street scene' and there was inadequate and unsightly waste and recycling storage.

Opening hours had not been provided by developers leading to questions over whether it might operate during unacceptable hours for residents.
A number of people had opposed to the plans including Shawlands and Strathbungo Community Council.
A document submitted on the applicant’s behalf had stated: “This is a new venture and the client is looking to provide a fresh service within the area for the general public and, if all goes well, could lead to further supporting building extension.”
