Castlemilk could be welcoming dozens of new homes for social rent if plans are given the go-ahead.
Developers have earmarked cleared ground on Castlemilk Drive at Machrie Road for 60 flats.
Cruden Estates have applied on behalf of Cassiltoun Housing Association to build the three-storey development.
Plans include forty-eight two-bedroom flats, six of them suitable for people in wheelchairs and 12 one-bedroom flats.
The site was put up for sale by City Property before being bought over by Cruden Estate who split it into two phases 'Machrie East' and 'Machrie West'.
The site sits within an area designated for housing.
A public consultation was held in July 2017 involving the local community, relevant stakeholders and interest groups.
A planning statement included in the plans reads: “The proposal is for residential development on a brownfield site that will provide much-needed housing for social rent to meet the need of the local community.
“The brief has been developed by Cassiltoun Housing Association in accordance with their identified housing needs to ensure a viable and desirable development in Castlemilk.”
The plans will now go before city planners.
