A CHARITY supporting vulnerable children and families on Glasgow's south side has received a £15,000 grant.

Following the gift from The Crerar Trust, Children 1st will use the funding to support up to 120 children and families who have experienced trauma.

The support offered to each family will be focused on the children’s needs and will be flexible, including working with families in their home, bringing families together in groups and supporting through advocacy.

Paddy Crerar, chairman of The Crerar Trust and Chief Executive of Crerar Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have made this award and look forward to hearing how this funding helps impact their work.

"Crerar Hotels is committed to giving back to the local community to help it grow and thrive, and provide opportunities that may otherwise seem out of reach."

Julie Richardson, Service Manager, Children 1st Glasgow Supporting Families Team, added: "We support a wide range of families across Glasgow who for a number of reasons struggle with every day living.

"This can result in children not achieving as well at school as they could do, parents feeling isolated and alone or families having to resort to debt or foodbanks to keep afloat.

"In some cases, without the right support, families just can’t do it on their own.

"Every penny we receive helps us be there for more children and their families and we applaud the amazing policy of the company in donating 50 per cent of their profits to charities.”
