NEARLY 20 schools will be inspected this weekend over safety fears after a window crashed 20ft into a playground.
Teachers at 19 schools were yesterday afternoon warned not to open similar-styled windows falling the scare at at St Maria Goretti Primary in Cranhill.
No one was injured at the building, which also houses Lamlash Nursery.
However, school campuses built to the same specifications at St Maria Goretti - during the council’s pre 12 strategy 2004 to 2012 - will be inspected.
Teaching staff have been issued with a 'safety flash' warning them not to open any side vertical windows.
A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: "Thankfully no one was injured or involved in the incident and the window manufacturer for the building has been at the school checking all windows and casings.
“In the meantime and as a precaution, advice has been issued not to open windows in the other establishments that have similar window mechanisms.”
The council declined to name the 19 school campuses involved but said parents would be informed in the coming days if their children attend affected schools.
It was initially reported that 11 schools would be checked but that number is now 19.
The classroom was empty at the time of the window plunge drama.
