A Glasgow-born director is the new favourite to be named the director of the next James Bond.

David Mackenzie, best known for films including Starred Up and Hallam Foe, has been cut from 33/1 all the way into 7/2.

He has come in ahead of action director Christopher Nolan and French Canadian Denis Villeneuve.

Mackenzie is the man behind Outlaw King featuring Chris Pine which was filmed in Glasgow.

The movement follows Trainspotting director Danny Boyle dropping out of the franchise due to creative difference.

A whopping 78 per cent of all bets over the last week being placed on Mackenzie getting the gig.
