TRAFFIC is backing up around Glasgow this morning amid heavy rainfall.
Traffic Scotland reported how surface water was adding to routine congestion on the M80 just after 7.30am.
There was also congestion on the M8 around Glasgow just before 8am. The routes affected included:
- Westbound junction 11 Stepps to junction 17 at Great Western Road and junction 30 Erskine Bridge
- Eastbound before junction 29 St James to junction 27 Arkleston, junction 25 Cardonald and junction 22 Plantation to junction 19 Anderston
Traffic was also queueing on the M74 towards the M8 at 7.58am. The route affected here was northbound from junction 4 Maryville to junction 1a Polmadie Road.
Traffic was queuing on the M77 Glasgow-bound at 8.15am, just after junction 5 Maidenhill to junction 1 Dumbreck Road.
The Met Office has said the weather forecast for Glasgow and its surrounding areas today will see a cloudy start with rain, however, it will brighten up later on.
The weather service has also warned of “severe gales tomorrow.”
