TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular Easterhouse man who died under “suspicious” circumstances.
Ronnie Pattison was pronounced dead following an incident at a flat in Durno Path around 6.50pm on Monday.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man, found seriously injured in the property, in connection with the incident which has shocked the community.
Uniformed officers remained on the scene yesterday afternoon as enquiries into the incident continued.
Flowers were left outside the 38-year-old’s home in the hours after the tragedy unfolded. One tribute read: “Here lies a soldier. Rest easy, Ronnie boy.”
Friends, family and neighbours paid their respects to the dead man who had grown up in the area and was said to be very well liked.
Sarah Scott, who was Mr Pattison’s neighbour for over 15 years, said she was “absolutely devastated”.
She added: “We all became closer in the past couple of years with the passing of his mum and living on his own.
“He meant a great deal to my mum and dad who looked at him more like a son. He was always up to no good but he was also one of the kindest, most loving souls you would ever meet with the cheekiest smile and that’s how I’ll remember him.
“The last time I saw him he gave me a hug, blew me a kiss and said n’night and I’ll be treasuring that in my memories forever. Sleep tight, Ronnie.”
Early reports suggested a fight had broken out between the two men before weapons were drawn. One neighbour said the scene resembled something from a movie as emergency services arrived.
He added: “There was kids and adults standing around watching as the drama unfolded.“The area is usually quite quiet – everyone knows each other.
“I knew Ronnie from growing up here and he had a lot of friends and family who cared about him. His sister and dad stayed just across the street from him.”
John Bones posted on Facebook: “Another son of Wellhouse taken too soon. RIP Ronnie... so sad.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however, police are treating the death as suspicious meantime.
“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
“A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and police enquiries are ongoing.”
