CITY detectives investigating a spate of robberies involving teenage boys having their mobile phones snatched in Glasgow's South Side have linked the crimes.
Police Scotland confirmed this week that they are considering the same suspect for at least five violent robberies.
The investigation is being headed up by the force's Community Investigation Unit who are based in Govan.
It comes after the Evening Times reported that a 13-year-old was left terrified following a robbery which happened on his birthday in the Pollokshields area on Monday, September 10 at around 3.40pm.
The victim was walking along Terregles Avenue when he was approached by a man on a bike who demanded his mobile phone.
The boy ran off through Maxwell Park to get away but the robber chased him and caught up with him in Springkell Avenue near St Andrews Drive where he threatened the victim with a knife and stole his mobile phone.
Similar terrifying incidents were previously reported to cops. At least four schoolboys had their mobile phones snatched on Monday, September 3. The victims, aged 11 to 15, were targeted in The Queens Park area.
Two boys, aged 11 and 15-years-old, were walking along James Gray Street when they were approached by a man who threatened them and took their mobile phones.
The robbery happened at 3.30pm and 20 later a 12-year-old boy also had his phone snatched on Langside Avenue near to Tantallon Road.
Then at 3.55pm, a 14-year-old boy was robbed of his phone on Langside Avenue near to The Ivory Hotel.
The suspect in all the crimes is described as Asian, mid 20s, 5ft 9 inches to 5ft 10 inches, dark brown/black hair, brown eyes, and slim to medium build.
The Evening Times understands that cops have been reviewing CCTV in a bid to catch the serial robber.
They also previously appealed for anyone who witnessed the incidents or saw a man of the description provided to come forward.
A force spokeswoman said that one line of enquiry is that the incidents are linked.
She added: "Enquiries are ongoing."
