IN her nineties hit, there wasn’t much that impressed Shania Twain.
The same, however, can’t be said for her Glasgow audience who were clearly taken aback by her unexpected entrance.
For the singer kicked off the European leg of her tour in style - by making her entrance in the middle of the audience.
The stunning star then greeted her adoring fans as she strutted up to the stage wearing a glittery thigh split dress, complete with a sparkling cowgirl hat.
She teased: “Are you ready Glasgow?” as she launched the first of two city shows with new track Life Is About To Get Good.
Come on Over and Up followed but lacked the wow factor of her entrance.
The vivacious singer, however, more than made up for it when she delivered the hits which first propelled her into the worldwide spotlight, Don’t Be Stupid (You Know I Love You) and That Don’t Impress Me Much. She even wore a leopard print ensemble for the occasion.
Like most worldwide stars who roll into town, she boasted about her links to Scotland, beaming that she has a Scottish manager before demanding the Scots live up to their reputation as the best audience in the world.
And they did just that especially when the show turned a little bit more country as Shania brought a taste of Nashville to Glasgow with country pop hits Any Man of Mine and Honey I’m Home.
Ballad You’re Still The One was a highlight as Shania showed off her vocal talents with a stripped down performance.
Chatty Shania continued to make her show intimate by involving the fans. A rarity for some artists of her calibre, the Canadian took time to speak to fans, and even posed for a selfie or two with a lucky few.
The ballads continued with From This Moment which exposed the uniqueness of Shania’s tone while Man! I Feel Like A Woman was a showstopper.
Shania is fun, likeable, beautiful and produces great country pop music. She lives up to expectation with her live shows and while her new music does not strike the same chord as the hits of Come On Over, she has produced a wealth of songs to keep her fans loyal.
Shania will return to the SSE Hydro on Friday.
