THOUSANDS of new students were treated to a gift card to help lighten the financial load at a two-day Freshers Festival on George Square.
Glasgow Taxis handed out 9000 pre-loaded cards with a value of up to £50 to spend at restaurants, shops and cabs.
Stephen Flynn, chairman of Glasgow Taxis, said: “Glasgow Taxis prides itself in supporting the city’s students throughout the year and it was good to see so many at the Freshers Festival on George Square – even in this weather.
“Passenger safety is hugely important to us which is why we run the Safe Taxi scheme and the student taxi account to make sure people get home safely.”
Graeme Barratt, one of the organisers of Freshers Festival, said: “We’d like to thank Glasgow Taxis for supporting this year’s event.”
