GLASGOW was the location for another film set when stars descended on the city to shoot a movie written and soundtracked by Scots rockers Biffy Clyro.
The film is called Balance, Not Symmetry and tells the story of an American student studying at the Glasgow School of Art, whose privileged life is torn apart by the death of her father.
The script was written by Biffy singer Simon Neil in collaboration with Welsh filmmaker Jamie Adams.
The much-loved band will also release an album featuring the film’s music.
The latest filming activity comes after it was revealed Glasgow has reeled in £71 million from filmmaking in the past five years.
Scenes shot today showed a seminar by an abstract painter (Shauna MacDonald) and an interviewer (Tamsin Egerton).
The talk was interrupted by two bolshy young Americans played by Bria Vinaite, known for her role in last year's The Florida Project, and Laura Harrier, star of BlackKkKlansman and Spiderman: Homecoming.
Dozens of Glaswegians were extras in the shoot at the Tramway in Pollokshields.
Shauna MacDonald, 38, trained in Glasgow and cut her teeth with a part in Taggart.
She said: “I think Glasgow is a fantastic city to shoot and capture.
“It's the epicentre of Scottish film.”
The second fire at the Glasgow School of Art cast a dark shadow over the movie, said producer Maggie Montieth, who was born in the city but left 33 years ago.
Although she now lives in Atlanta, Maggie’s husband still supports Kilmarnock, Biffy’s home team.
“Our heart broke all over again,” Maggie said when talking about the blaze.
“It was as if there had been a murder.”
She told us filming in Glasgow made her “drop in and out of nostalgia” as she visited the city’s “beautiful locations”.
Maggie’s mum still lives in the city and was on set to watch her daughter in action.
“We have been made so welcome and people have bent over backwards to accommodate us,” the producer added.
