A POPULAR discount retailer has signalled an interest in taking over the former Toys R Us site in Govan which closed after the firm went into administration.
A planning application was submitted this week to Glasgow City Council asking for a variation in the planning permission previously granted at the site on Helen Street.
B&M home store have asked for permission to take over the site and sell a different type of goods.
A statement said: "B&M Home Store, which currently operates from junction 24 retail park to the north of the application site, have expressed an interest in operation from the unit as their existing lease is due to expire.
"As such, this application has been prepared to enable the premises to retail a wider variety of goods which would allow B&M to relocate to the former Toys R Us store and remain in the wider area."
The premises has been vacant following the closure of Toys R Us store earlier this year after they went into administration.
A decision is expected on the proposal by December 7.
