GREATEST Showman star Hugh Jackman gave a homeless man £100 then offered him a swanky dinner at a plush Glasgow hotel.
The kind-hearted Hollywood actor placed five £20 notes in the man’s hands before inviting him to the opening of a new restaurant inside Blythswood Hotel.
One stunned eyewitness said she “couldn’t stop smiling” after seeing Jackman carry out the lovely gesture in Sauchiehall Street on Thursday night.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said: “At first I didn’t even notice it was him as he was wearing a cap but I stopped and saw him put all these notes in this homeless guy’s hands.

“The guy asked him why he was giving him the money but he didn’t even know who Hugh was.
“It wasn’t until I heard his accent and looked closer that I recognised him.
“I heard him chatting to the homeless man about his life and then he asked him to go with him for a meal.
“The guy was laughing saying he wasn’t well-dressed enough.
“Hugh shook his hand and left and I walked over to the homeless guy and told him who he was.

“He looked really shocked by happy and said he’d invited him for dinner at the Blythswood and that he wished he’d gone.
“He counted the money and said ‘he’s given me £100’ and looked like he was ready to cry. I felt like crying after it as well and I have huge respect for Hugh.
She added: "I couldn't stop smiling after it."
The 50-year-old Wolverine star was later spotted dining at the opening of the brand new Bo & Birdy restaurant inside five-star hotel Blythswood around 10pm on Thursday.
A star-studded array of guests also made special appearances, including Celtic legend Henrik Larsson, Corrie actress Helen Flanagan, her partner Scott Sinclair and other footie stars.
Scottish coach Jamie McNamara and former players Simon Donnelly and Murdo MacLeod were also celebrating.
Aussie A-lister Hugh was in the city for his three-night The Greatest Showman performance at The Hydro.
Asked what the best thing was about Glasgow he exclusively told the Evening Times: “The people.”
On Saturday night after he put out a video of him passing by the Hydro venue he also decided to throw a welcoming party for his dancers, singers and roadies at the Blythswood hotel where is staying in a £2,500 a night penthouse.

Hugh wanted to treat them after an intensive six weeks of rehearsals in London and New York and spent tens of thousands of pounds at the new Bo and Birdy restaurant venue which has just opened to the public.
The lavish bar and brasserie restaurant has just had a million pound makeover and Hugh and his 50-plus entourage got exclusive use of the facilities before anyone.
