GLASGOW comic and Wild Rose star Janey Godley joked that her dream film role is a ‘steamy’ rom-com alongside hunk George Clooney.
The funnywoman, 56, revealed her big-screen goals after appearing in the movie hit about a former jailbird with dreams of being a country singer.
It follows the talented Rose-Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley) who, fresh out of jail and with two young children, is desperate to get out of the city and make it big as a country singer in Nashville.
The role of actress Janey, who plays a fiery barmaid who has a fight with Irish actress Jessie Buckley while screaming “you’re barred!” is not too far removed from her past, Janey admits.

Before she became a stand-up she ran a pub for 15 years in the tough Calton area of the city.
Janey said: “I loved being in Wild Rose and I’m definitely looking to do a bit more acting.
“I used to be a barmaid in the East End of Glasgow and in the film I play a barmaid from Glasgow - so it wasn’t really a stretch.
“It was so good to be a barmaid again and the movie is just so amazing.
“When I first ready the script, I thought, this is what I want to do.
“I watch a lot of films about bleak subjects which I enjoy but it would be good to do something a bit different.
“I’d like my next film to be one about me having a hot, steamy affair with George Clooney, but in somewhere like Seton Sands.”

A regular five-star performer at the Edinburgh Fringe, in 2008 Janey won the Fringe Report Award as ‘Best Performer’ and two Nivea Funny Women Fringe Awards – as ‘Best Stand-Up’ and, overall, for ‘Best Show’ as “one of the most prolific and extraordinary stand-up comedians working in the UK”.
Performer Janey is also a regular on BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute, where she openly speaks of her support for the LGBT community.
As a result of this, the East End legend was recently nominated alongside legendary singer Annie Lennox, film star Emma Thompson and TV presenter Carol Smillie for the Proud Scotland Awards.
She is delighted about being nominated for an award which honours the country’s LGBT heroes.
Janey quipped: “I’m more impressed at being nominated as a celebrity rather than an ally.”

The shortlist for the new Proud Scotland Awards is notable for the number of women among the four nominees in each of the 20 categories.
All celebs have been nominated by the public, with the winners due to be announced at a lavish ceremony in Glasgow on June 1.
Janey, who admits she once got trolled on social media for Tweeting ‘I support trans people,’ believes older men and women in the country should be more educated more when it comes to LGBT topics.
The mum, whose daughter Ashley Storrie is also a renowned comedian, said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated for the awards and I believe we should do all we can to support and help transgender communities.
“I think a lot of people who come from my generation previously didn’t know much about it so they were scared to talk and ask.

“I’m willing to be educated more about it and more people my age should learn how to address the subject without offending people.
“I can never speak for the trans community because I don’t live it myself but more awareness should definitely be out there.
“Why should there be more hate in this world than there already is?”
Proud Scotland Awards Event director Peter Ferguson is delighted with the response the event has had and that so many people took the time to nominate others.
He said: “I think society in Scotland is more accepting of the LGBT community than a lot of other places and we want to give people recognition for that. We are delighted with the wide spectrum of nominees from all over Scotland.”
