PASSING a driving test is one of the most momentous life experiences some have. So it’s gutting to hear Glasgow is the unluckiest place in Scotland to sit your driving test.
New analysis has looked at 10 years of pass rate data from every driving test centre in Scotland to reveal the easiest and hardest places to take a test. The best and worst months to take tests in each location have also been revealed.
Glasgow should be avoided for those looking to pass their test as the city is home to the unluckiest test centre in Scotland, Anniesland.

The driving test centre there has a pass rate of just 42.45%, well below the UK average pass rate of 54.43%.
Those taking their test at this centre should avoid doing so in May as, on average, this is the unluckiest month - with pass rates dropping to 41.11%.
Another centre in Glasgow, Baillieston, isn’t far behind with a pass rate of only 42.85%, making it the second hardest place to pass your test in Scotland. December is the unluckiest month here, with pass rates dropping to just 41.5%.
At the other end of the scale, Campbeltown, in Argyll and Bute, is the easiest place to pass a practical driving test in both Scotland and the entire UK.
The data was analysed by car insurance brand Marmalade where the team has created a “Pass Probability Tool” that reveals the likelihood of someone passing their test based on their location, age and the time of year.
Crispin Moger, CEO at Marmalade, said: “We know driving tests can bring about nerves. In fact, more than 50% of young motorists are equally or more anxious about facing their driving test than their academic exams.

“We wanted to provide a handy tool to help young learner drivers, and their parents, find out more about their chosen test centre and its pass rates.
“Ultimately, aiming to give them a little piece of mind when it comes to booking a test, and show them how many motorists pass at this centre, in the month of their test.”
