Learner drivers in Glasgow are more likely to take multiple attempts to pass their driving test than elsewhere in Scotland, new figures show.
Data revealed following an Freedom of Information request by GoCompare researchers shows that as many as one in 20 people in Glasgow need more than five attempts to pass.
Of 17 test centres in Scotland involved in the study, Glasgow's three test centres were among the five sites with the highest rates of multiple test attempts.

The city's Ballieston centre is the site least likely to see repeat customers, with just 2.68 per cent of learners needing more than five attempts to pass.
However, significantly higher rates of multiple tests have been recorded elsewhere in Glasgow, with Shieldhall and Anniesland recording rates of 3.70 per cent and 4.47 per cent respectively.
These figures are the two worst in Scotland, and both count among the ten worst in the UK with the national average around one in 50.

The breakdown also fluctuates massively between men and women, with women less likely to require five or more attempts at both the Anniesland and Shieldhall centres, while in Ballieston men have a better pass rate.
Outside of the city, some nearby test centres have more success than their neighbours in Glasgow.
In Irvine just 1.41 per cent of people require more than five attempts to get their certification, while in Paisley the figure is 1.78 per cent.

Bishopbriggs test centre comes in at around 1.97 per cent, Greenock at 2.27 per cent, while Ayr (2.71 per cent), and Airdrie (2.86 per cent) have slightly better pass rates than Glasgow's worst two offenders.
This then leads to the question - should learner drivers be heading outside of the city to take their tests?
