Verdict: Four stars.
SCOTTISH soul star Emeli Sande thanked the city of Glasgow for embracing her during an intimate show at the SEC Armadillo tonight.
The singer’s moment of gratitude came as she put on a stunning display of vocal prowess at the city venue.
Dressed in a figure-hugging green midi dress, Emeli oozed confidence from the get-go as she took to the piano for a performance of opener Survivor.
She beamed: “I’m so happy to be back in a town, a city I love so much.”
Her biggest hits Heaven and My Kind of Love followed before she blew the crowd away with the duet Beneath Your Beautiful, a song she performed with backing singer Matt Major who equally impressed.
The 32-year-old, who grew up in Alford, Aberdeenshire before moving to Glasgow in 2005, then thanked the city crowd.
She said: “I felt I could really jump in and find who I was Glasgow.
“I just want to thank you for embracing me.”
And the Glasgow crowd continued to embrace her as they lapped up hits Wonder, Clown, and Highs and Lows.
In an intimate setting like the Armadillo, Emeli’s voice is a real powerhouse. Vocal talent aside though, she also shows passion for her music and that is something her audience can only find infectious.
She finished off with Read All About and Next to Me, and got to experience the complete gratitude of the Glasgow audience as fans got off their seats to shake her hand.
