THE BIGGEST weekend of the Christmas party season is officially upon us.
Offices across the city will be closing early as locals hit the town for their annual outings.
And to make sure revellers enjoy themselves without a hitch during the busy period, Glasgow Taxis have issued some advice to make sure everyone gets home safe.
It's thought that tonight will be one of 2019's busiest for pubs, hotels, restaurants and clubs - with the black taxi firm's full fleet of cabs and drivers working round the clock to meet demand.
As part of their festive support, Glasgow Taxis - which is the biggest black cab company in Scotland - will be providing extra staff at the city's four stewarded 'Nite Zone' taxi ranks.
These ranks, which are also covered by CCTV, are located at Gordon Street, Sauchiehall Street, Albion Street and Byres Road. A fifth is on Langside Avenue over the festive period.

Ahead of the weekend, Glasgow Taxis has issued the following advice for our partying public.
• Group up: Not only can it help you save a few quid, but there is safety in numbers and helps avoid anyone being isolated
• Bank on a Rank: As above, these are marshalled and constantly serviced, we will keep Taxis running to and from them until the last person is home safe and sound
• The Glasgow Taxis app is the most efficient way to use our vehicles: immediate bookings within the city can benefit from a fixed price and you can track the progress of your booking as live
• See the light, be safe: All Glasgow Taxis vehicles are recognisable by the iconic yellow light at the front of the vehicle. All cabs and drivers with this feature are fully vetted by the council so you know what you are getting into
• Don’t fret about queueing at ATMs for cash, all Glasgow Taxis accept credit or debit card payments for your convenience
• The joy of six: All “book now” journeys on the app are available for up to six customers – if booking for six passengers a six-seater vehicle should be requested, which can be done on the app using the Car Type option.
Dougie McPherson, Glasgow Taxis Ltd chairman, said: “Friday and Saturday night will be incredibly busy for the city and all we want to do is help make sure everyone enjoys a safe journey home at the end.
“With thousands of people in the city moving around at similar times it makes the use of our stewarded ranks even more important and we owe a big thanks to those marshalls who will be on hand to help the Glasgow public."
