Bank On Us foodbank campaign making a real difference in Glasgow

Our pictures show just some of the organisations, companies and individuals who have generously donated to the campaign to help those in need.

Schools across Glasgow got involved with head teachers requesting extra bags for as many pupils as possible to help out.

Campaign partners, Volunteer Glasgow, First Bus and City Building generously helped with the collection and distribution of the bags across the city.

Many foodbanks reported they were concerned that they would run out of supplies if more people are seeking help over the holiday period.

The Glasgow Times issued a call to our readers and the people of the city responded with the generosity that the city is known for.

Dr Graham Paterson, executive director, City Building, said: “It was a brilliant effort all round and we are humbled by the amazing response.”

Tracey Stone, of Volunteer Glasgow, said: “It has been humbling and heartening to see how people have come together to make a real difference to some of our city’s most vulnerable individuals, families and communities.”

Duncan Cameron, Operations Director for First Glasgow, said: “It is great to see so many organisations coming together to help people in need at this time of year.

"And a huge thanks to our volunteers who gave up their days to help with the collection efforts.”
