A PETITION demanding refunds for frustrated Elfingrove customers has gained nearly 1000 signatures online.
The petition, named ‘ITISON please offer full refunds to everyone who purchased Elfingrove Tickets in Glasgow’, was created at the start of December by change.org user John Clarke.
Since its creation three weeks ago, the campaign for refunds has received 812 signatures at the time of writing, with some paying upwards of £60 for the family night out at Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery.
In his explanation for the petition, John says that organisers itison.com, who had invested £1million into the festive takeover of the museum, had billed the event as a “spell-binding night-time tour of the museum culminating in a show capturing the true magic of Christmas using state of the art technology, sound, and lighting.”
John said: “Guests attending the event were horrified to learn that Rudolph had been replaced by a dead dinosaur, elf body parts lay beside an exhibit, and the event was nothing much more than a tour of the FREE museum with the lights switched off.
John asked that itison “does the right thing by the people of Glasgow and refund hard-working families who were misled.”
Unimpressed visitors to the event spoke of their frustration at the site as they signed the petition.
Joan Doak said: “I paid £60 for 4 tickets to experience the Christmas magic for my grandson but we walked around in absolute astonishment at how badly wrong the organisers got it. “
Brain Lindsay said: “People were not able to make an informed choice. The content was bizarre and perverse and not the Christmas wonderland advertised.”
Dawn Steel said: “Have friends who have been and were very, very disappointed!! We are going end of December but I’m not looking forward to it as all I’ve seen online are complaints.”
The festive event has been marred by disgruntled reviews from families since opening night, with a complaint even being lodged to Advertising Standards Agency earlier this month.
However, itison responded to customers, previously defending themselves after opening night criticism: “Overall, we’ve had great feedback on the experience but we are aware it didn’t meet everyone’s expectations. Our aim is to listen and evolve the show based on the feedback given.
“We’re really proud to bring this event to Glasgow and hope the tweaks made following the feedback from opening night will ensure that everyone attending over the coming days and weeks has an amazing night out with family and friends.”
Customers were advised that tickets for Elfigrove were “non-refundable” in response to email complaints.
Itison was approached did not comment on the petition.
