A NEIGHBOUR of a 48-year-old man who was allegedly murdered told police she heard “horrible noises’ coming from his Paisley flat.
Justyna Pula, 26, was giving evidence at the trial of Stephen O’Donnell and Robert Muir, both 30, who deny murdering George Calvert by repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body and striking him with an unknown object on March 19, last year, at Glen Street, Paisley.
She said she heard noises in the afternoon after returning home from a shopping trip.
At the High Court in Glasgow, Pula agreed police statements she gave on March 21 and 27 last year were the truth.
She said: “I heard horrible noises.
"There was screaming running around and kicking as if someone was falling on the floor.
"I heard screaming from George as if his head was on the floor.”
The witness claimed she also heard what she believes was Calvert groaning after dull thuds and added: “as if George was being hit.”
Pula told the jury that about five minutes after the noise stopped she saw O’Donnell and Muir walking down the stairs of the close.
