A GLASGOW hairdressing salon is to launch ‘mindful’ hair and make-up appointments to encourage stressed-out clients to slow down, relax and resist mobile phone scrolling.
Alchemy and Bang Bang Beauty will be offering herbal teas, tranquil meditative sounds, head massages and taster sessions of yoga and mindfulness techniques.
The experience will be launched from February 6, which is Time To Talk Day, an awareness day which aims to ‘break the silence surrounding mental health’.
Salon director Eirinn Fleming said: “When the clients book in for this new service, it can give them one or two hours out of their day where they can unwind and free their minds of any concerns of where they need to be next.
“Self-care is extremely important in today’s day and age. We hope to improve healthy living with this new idea and to show people that they don’t always have to be on their phones, answering emails or stressing about the next few hours.
“This time will be for clients to be solely focused on enjoying our holistic haircuts and mindful makeup.”
“Many of our staff members have spoken openly about their own battles with mental health and it’s something that we feel positive about promoting within the salon environment.”
