A CONVICTED killer who sparked a mass brawl outside a pub owned by former Rangers star Nacho Novo was jailed for 12 months today.

John Tiffoney, 36, assaulted four people at the NN10 bar on Glasgow’s Paisley Road West in April last year.

Three of Tiffoney’s victims were women, one of whom was working at the bar that day.

Tiffoney pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assaults and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.

He was cleared of biting off a man's nose in the fight.

Sheriff Joseph Platt ordered Tiffoney to be monitored in the community for six months after his release and told him: “What is clear is the level of anger that appeared to be unprovoked.

“One of these attacks was on a defenceless young woman working in the bar.

“Another assault was to an unknown woman and was an example of your anger and violence.

“Striking someone’s head against a car door is another example of that.”

Tiffoney assaulted bar employee Michelle Brolly and an unknown female by punching them on the head.

An unknown man was repeatedly punched on the head by Tiffoney during the melee.

He also struck the head of another unknown female by hitting it with a car door.

Some of the injured victims were taken in by businesses nearby for treatment.

Part of the incident was caught on mobile phones by people living nearby.

Tiffoney was also charged with biting off a man's nose,  but prosecutor Lucy Adams accepted a not guilty plea to the charge.

Lawyer, David McCaig, defending, said: “You are dealing with assaults where there were no weapons and no injury.

“There will be no repetition of the matter.

“This is a man with a young family and we are dealing with a man who cares for his family.”

Tiffoney was jailed for culpable homicide in 2003 after pleading guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh.

He was given a five-year sentence for stabbing 17-year-old Mark Douglas in Drumoyne, Glasgow in 2002.

He previously jailed for nine years in 2009 for an attempted murder at T in the Park.
