GORBALS philanthropist Lord Willie Haughey spoken out in support of a community centre that could close if funding is not secured.
Ruchill Community Centre, which houses a credit unit and a range of youth and family groups, could be under threat if it is not successful in securing funds from the Glasgow Communities Fund.
Mr Haughe has supported projects at the centre through his charitable trust, which is a partner of our Streets Ahead campaign.

Mr Haughe said: “It is such a shame that a key facility like Ruchill Community Centre, which plays such an important part in the community is potentially facing closure.
“Hopefully, such an unfortunate outcome can be avoided.”
The centre is the base for North United Communities, which provides drop-in activities, groups, sports for young people.

Jill Mackay, chief executive has described the centre as “the heart and soul of Ruchill.
A public meeting was held on Monday night, attended by local MSP Bob Doris who said he was “able to offer assurances” about the future of the centre.
The Glasgow Communities Fund (GCF) was set up to allow charities, organisations, third sector etc to apply to us for funding.
The council has said many organisations struggled with the funding applications which has delayed a decision.
